Exploitation and enhancement of cultural heritage and joint use of sports facilities in the cross-border area from the Julian Alps to the Adriatic See

The project, inspired by principles of environmental sustainability and cross-border cooperation, aims to improve the joint use of sports and recreational facilities in the recipient areas. In particular, interventions will focus on the promotion of sports activities that take

place in the natural environment, such as climbing, hiking and mountaineering cycling, addressed to young and disadvantaged social groups.

Specific objectives

  • Enhancement of the cycle-tourism and hiking supply;
  • Realization of new sporting and educational cross-border projects;
  • Creation and development of suitable centres to support sporting activities and excursions;
  • Development of education and training, particularly the horse-therapy addressed to vulnerable people.

Expected results

  • Requalification of facilities and equipment for climbing and hiking;
  • Realization of specific programs for climbing training;
  • Development of programs and paths enjoyable by vulnerable people;
  • Creation of entertainment and information centres;
  • Organisation of training sessions for tourism and social operators and sport courses for tourists;
  • Organisation of a joint cultural week dedicated to mountain environment and sports;
  • Publication of monographic guides and information catalogues on the Julian Alps.

Type of service

  • Support in management and financial coordination of the project;
  • Participation in the elaboration of the operative handbook;
  • Organisation of meetings , trainings and sporting events;
  • Support in the realization of a flora and fauna census database;
  • Participation in the elaboration of models and sustainability analysis;
  • Realization of promotional publications and routes catalogues for outdoor activities;
  • Valorisation of centres for close to nature sporting activities.
