On May 13 and 14, 2025, the French city of Amiens hosted the launch meeting of the European project Strategic Foresight Partnership (SFP), funded by the Interreg Europe programme.

The project aims to strengthen the long-term strategic planning capacities of European regions. Informest participated in the event with a team composed of Martina Pertoldi (project manager), Corrado Campobasso (analyst), and Ivana Calabrese (communication specialist), joined by Chiara Cristini, researcher at IRES FVG and member of the regional stakeholder group of the SFP project, currently being defined.

Strategic Foresight: Exploring the Future to Better Govern the Present

SFP brings together partners from regions with different levels of development and expertise in strategic foresight—an approach that helps anticipate change through analytical tools such as Horizon Scanning and Scenario Building. These tools will enable participating regions to identify emerging challenges, assess risks and opportunities, and enhance territorial responsiveness. Participation in the project represents an important opportunity to strengthen Friuli Venezia Giulia’s position in the European landscape of future-oriented regional policies.

Next Steps

The project has a total budget of €1,549,998. In addition to Friuli Venezia Giulia, it will involve six other European regions: Hauts-de-France (France, lead partner), Helsinki-Uusimaa (Finland), South Moravia (Czech Republic), Podkarpackie (Poland), Catalonia (Spain), and Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine), running until 2029. In France, the seven partners shared experiences and discussed implementation methods with members of the advisory board, including the OECD, Joint Research Centre, and the European Committee of the Regions.

The Amiens meeting marked the beginning of a multi-year interregional collaboration that will continue with meetings, exchanges of best practices, and capacity-building activities, guiding regions in defining their “desirable futures.”
