On Tuesday, September 17, 2025, the beautiful Villa Widmann in Mira (VE) hosted the cross-border event “From Reality to Virtual: Cultural Heritage Comes to Life!”, organized by Venetian Cluster as part of the RecapMCV project, co-financed by the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia Programme.

The initiative attracted audiences from Italy and Slovenia, interested in discovering how innovative technologies can help narrate and make cultural heritage more accessible in an immersive and inclusive way.

The day began with a speech by Sergio Calò, Director of Venetian Cluster, who presented the main results of the project, emphasizing the importance of cross-border collaboration between Italian and Slovenian partners, capable of addressing common challenges with different methodological approaches. Among the most significant outcomes is the creation of a guideline manual for applying new immersive technologies to cultural heritage, including examples, target audiences, costs, and usage methods, with particular attention to accessibility for vulnerable people or those with disabilities.

An interesting contribution came from Walter Goruppi (Informest), who explored the terminology related to new technologies and the difficulties encountered in translating between Italian and Slovenian. To support this work, a multilingual video was also produced, comparing key terms in Italian, Slovenian, and English, available here.

As concrete evidence of the RecapMCV project’s impact, Matej Kavčič, representative of the Municipality of Tolmin, presented the new immersive room set up in the medieval complex of Kozlov Rob: a space where history and technology meet to offer visitors an engaging and realistic experience. The official inauguration, reserved for institutional representatives and professionals, was held on Tuesday, September 24 in Tolmin, while the public opening is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, with an invitation extended to all event participants.

The day concluded with a guided tour of Villa Widmann, allowing guests to appreciate the historical and artistic splendor of the villa and enjoy another immersive experience in the region’s cultural heritage.

The event confirmed the value of cross-border cooperation in enhancing cultural heritage through digital innovation. In this journey, Informest actively contributed as a partner of the RecapMCV project, providing its expertise and promoting the exchange of best practices between Italy and Slovenia.
