On 12 May 2026 in Udine, at the Sala Bravo of the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce, the second meeting of the training pathway promoted by Informest for the regional stakeholder group of the Strategic Foresight Partnership project took place, focusing on methods and phases for implementing future-oriented exercises in a shared regional context and learning.

The event marked the conclusion of the first capacity-building cycle, delivered with the support of skopìa – Anticipation Services, and involved managers and representatives from 13 organizations in Friuli Venezia Giulia, including regional institutions, the education and training system, universities and economic organizations. The accompanying pathway will continue in the coming months with further activities.

During the day, several key tools of Futures Studies and Strategic Foresight were explored, with particular attention to the different phases involved in building a future-oriented exercise. The discussion also focused on driving forces of change and weak signals, highlighting their role in anticipating social, economic and technological transformations.

The workshop session engaged participants in a backcasting exercise, a method used to collectively reflect on the steps needed to build desirable futures. Starting from the vision of a “Learning Region” Friuli Venezia Giulia in 2045, working groups identified intermediate milestones, existing signals within the territory and potential projects to be developed in the coming years to strengthen the regional education and labour system.
