The overall objective of the MAESTRALE project is to promote the development of blue energy in the Mediterranean area as a key sector for sustainable growth, by fostering the creation and the transnational networking of innovative clusters. The main output consists in the creation of Blue Energy Labs (BEL) in each participating region. BELs will involve local enterprises, public authorities, knowledge institutions and citizens and will operate to support future blue energy policies and concrete strategies for blue growth.
Objectives
• Improvement of knowledge and development of a common strategy at the MED level regarding Blue Energy potential and available technologies.
• Reinforcement of networks across Europe, and specifically in the MED area.
• Development of pilot Blue Energy projects as test-beds and concrete demonstration activities to support the implementation of innovative and profitable Blue Energy technologies in the MED area.
Project activities
• Survey of available technologies, existing laws/regulations, hindrances and potentials of maritime renewable energy sources in the MED areas targeted by the project.
• Development of innovative clusters in the blue energy sector
• Business services and transnational activities
• Creation of the transnational network of Blue Energy Labs (BEL) as a cooperating tool and meeting platform for key actors involved in the Blue Energy Sector
• Create of public-private partnerships and knowledge and innovation exchange in order to lay the basis for concrete initiatives of blue growth.

• Knowledge frameworks on Blue Energy in the MED area
• Blue Energy Labs as transnational network among key actors in Blue Energy
• Participative planning processes of Blue Energy projects (20 at least) to be realised in MED

• Coordination of the communication actions at transnational and regional level
• Support to territorial development and internationalization of regional economic system, in liaison with the public administration.
• Implementation of the Area of specialization “maritime technologies”, identifying possible synergies with other initiatives funded at the regional level.
• Strong network of contacts with more partners across UE.
