The second meeting of the RESPONSe project was held on July 10 in Zagreb, Croatia. Informest participates in the project, which kicked off in January, as Lead Partner. In the past months the project partners have been focusing on the collection of atmospheric and oceanographic data in their areas, in order to fully understand how temperatures and rainfalls are changing, what the trends in the past 30 years have been and what we can expect in the future. The meeting held in Zagreb, hosted by the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute, was the opportunity to analyse the first collected data and to take stock of the missing ones. Furthermore project partners discussed the way local authorities will be able to use the data in order to programme in the best possible way planning measures in their territories.
The RESPONSe project is financed by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme and it aims at empowering local policy-makers to enable climate-smart governance approaches in response to the negative impacts and the risks caused by climate change in their territories. Several Italian and Slovenian municipalities have been involved in the project as “pilot areas” adopting a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan.
In northern Italy the pilot city is Lignano Sabbiadoro. At the end of the project Lignano Sabbiadoro will be a “pilot case” regarding the implementation of smart policies and measures on climate adaptation. This will help the city to become innovative and responsive to climate change.
