Second week of teleworking for the experts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies involved in the twinning project in favor of the National Center for Intellectual Property of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”.

Actual health emergency has not curbed the intensive planning activities: thanks to a derogation from regular administrative procedures and with the support of technology, the Ministry experts and their Georgian colleagues continue to work on  the establishment and improvement of the product control system for geographical indication and on the revision of the relative regulatory framework.

This kind of activity will continue until July, in the hopes that by the end of Summer both missions to Georgia and the organization of study visit of Georgian representatives to Italy, planned for next Autumn, will be resumed by the end of Summer.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, the general aim of the project is to support the development of Denomination of Controlled Origin (DCO) and the Geographical Indication (GI) systems in Georgia through the creation of efficient support tools to the administrative, monitoring and sanctioning system of DOC products, in accordance with the latest European regulations in this area.

Among findings, there is the creation of 4 new geographical indications.

Informest, as mandated body, handles administrative and financial aspects and supports the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies in the management of the entire project, whose total value is € 1.5 million.
