Euro Info Centre - EIC IT388

Informest hosted the Euro Info Centre EIC IT388, which was part of the EIC network, created by the European Commission in 1987 to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and co-financed and managed by DG Enterprise and Industry. The network was active in 42 countries with more than 250 Euro Info Centres (EIC) in the Members States and Candidate Countries, Euro Info Correspondence Centres (EICC) in third countries. In addition the network had 26 Associate Members and 340 relay points increasing the geographical reach of its coverage.

The activities of the EIC were:

  • to provide information and assistance to SMEs on European matters;
  • to actively promote European policies;
  • to notify the Commission of any problems connected with European policies encountered by companies;
  • to promote the participation of companies in on-line consultations launched by the Commission;
  • to provide information and assistance aimed at encouraging business relationships and co-operation among companies.

In January 1999 Informest signed the contract with EC – DG XXIII for the status of Euro-Info Centre Associate Member (IT 939) for its specific competences in the relationship with countries in transition. Since January 2000 Informest has contracted, as Euro Info Centre IT 388/ Friuli Venezia Giulia, with the headquarters hosted by Informest in Gorizia and operational relays by the Chambers of Commerce of Udine and Pordenone. In addition to the operational budget, EIC had access to additional funding to implement specific actions and projects.

Answering questions on EU subjects and/or signpost where necessary.

Proactively promoting EU policies to SMEs and making available information on the EU to them through web site, leaflets, newsletter, events and presentations.

Providing support services on European issues for companies delivered through the provision of individualized assistance and advise.

Encoding the difficulties encountered by companies in the implementation of the Single Market.

Promoting the participation of companies in on-line consultations launched by the Commission.

Providing information and assistance aimed at encouraging business relationships and co-operation among companies.

Organizing awareness events and training activities mainly targeted at entrepreneurs and at the EIC network members.

Producing information material and publications.
