Gorski Kotar

Bilateral Cooperation Project for Regional Development in Croatia

The overall project aimed at improving the awareness and knowledge about concerted development programming; at applying in three selected micro-regions of Croatia the Italian experience in territorial integrated programming and at analysing possible use of the tested TIP approach at central government level. On behalf of the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, between October 2004 and December 2005 Informest managed the project in the micro-region of Gorski Kotar in the Primorsko-gorenska County of the Republic of Croatia, deploying its leading staff (5) + a number of civil servants and private experts.

The main activity focused on partnership building and programming methodology for the design of micro-region development plan, that resulted as a pilot experience also for County ROP implementation. A project pipeline has been established, focussing on tourism upgrading, educational improvement, support to SMEs competitiveness in agro-food and wood-processing clusters. Moreover one Study Tour in FVG Region was organised for Croatian local beneficiaries.
