FOR BANK

For bank Bulgaria

The Project aimed at training 30 Bulgarian bank managers and improving their managerial skills in order to make the Bulgarian banking system meet European standards. This action was also expected to have an impact on the approach between the Bulgarian and Italian banking systems with a consequent strengthening of the Bulgarian credit system and an increase of trade between the two countries. Finally, the project was expected to exerce a remarkable impact on the openness of the Bulgarian market for major economic cooperation with foreign economies. The first step of the project was the implementation of two major surveys, one concerning the needs of Bulgarian enterprises in the field of credit management and the other focusing on the needs of the Bulgarian banking sector and on its strong and weak points in the international banking relationships. The training process was structured keeping in consideration the results of the two surveys. Once the contents of the training was set, the project team selected the criteria for the screening of candidates and afterwards made the selection among Bulgarian banking managers working especially on investment and international matters. A total number of 30 participants took part in the theoretical training in Italy. The classes were followed by internships in Italian banking facilities. All participants, during their internships, wrote a report on the possibility of co-operation between their local and hosting banking institutes. The scripts produced by the participants were then analysed, processed and summarized in a final report transmitted to all the parties involved in the project and to other authorities.
